The Coventry Festival is a small, friendly competitive festival, affiliated to The British and International Federation of Festivals. We provide an opportunity for the people of Coventry and beyond to celebrate and develop performance skills in a safe, nurturing environment. Speech and Drama skills are vitally important to every young person’s education and to their future success. The ability to present yourself well, to speak in public in a clear and confident manner and to use the control and expression that we learn from drama takes you a long way in life – building confidence in business, personal and social settings.
Confident self-expression does not come naturally to most people and I am sure we can all identify with the nerves of performing or speaking in public! The Festival provides an opportunity for all those dedicated teachers, who put in hours of hard work to develop and nurture their pupils’ talents, a platform to practice and show off their skills. Anyone – no matter what their situation in life – can take part and take advantage of the opportunity to perform to an experienced adjudicator. We welcome entries from all ages and abilities.
Every competitor or group who performs at the Festival receives a certificate and a crit sheet with evaluation and advice from an experienced Federation adjudicator. Certificates are stamped to indicate the level achieved.
Trophies are awarded in most categories and awarded for the year. The winner in each age group with a class also receives a medal which they can keep.
If you would like to help to support the work as a committee member, steward or sponsor, please talk to one of the organisers at the festival or email us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
